日本首相安倍晉三4月29日於華府向美國國會發表演說，在提及二戰歷史時表示「痛切反省」，承認給亞洲民眾帶來痛苦的事實，但安倍並未使用「侵略」、「道歉」等字眼。亞洲鄰國紛紛對此深表遺憾。

中國外交部發言人洪磊30日在例行記者會上表示，中方一貫敦促日本政府和領導人本著對歷史負責任的態度，恪守「村山談話」等歷屆內閣關於正視和深刻反省侵略歷史的表態和承諾。

洪磊說，「唯有如此，日本才能真正取信於國際社會，日本同亞洲鄰國才能發展面向未來的友好關係。」

此外，針對安倍訪美期間，雙方修訂了《美日防衛合作指針》，就加強美日同盟達成一致。洪磊回應，美日同盟是在冷戰時期形成的雙邊安排。美日雙方有責任確保美日同盟不損害第三方利益，不損害亞太地區的和平與穩定。中方將繼續關注美日安保合作的走向。

南韓外交部30日也發表聲明，敦促日本正視殖民統治和侵略歷史，以及蹂躪慰安婦人權的事實，對歷史遺留問題表現出正確的歷史觀，走上與鄰國合作、和解之路。
