坎登園球場觀眾席空無一人，猶有一些球迷聚集在中左外野後方的欄杆吶喊「Let’s go O’s」（金鶯加油），讓金鶯全隊知道與他們同在。金鶯隊昨日就在百餘年大聯盟史上第一場「關門比賽」，以8比2勝白襪拿下3連勝，把勝利獻給巴爾的摩市！

金鶯總教練修瓦特：「賽前我向所有隊員說，希望金鶯可以成為這座城市重整的力量，我們不只要打出好球賽，還要去做任何我們可以做到的事。」

金鶯看板球星亞當瓊斯：「一場沒有觀眾的比賽，其實他們都在，只是在不同的地方支持我們。你可以看到有的球迷就在球場旁的飯店陽台、球場入口處，也有很多人告訴我注意臉書上的訊息，他們無所不在的支持我們，只是這次不在場內。」

金鶯強打C.戴維斯1局下的大號3分全壘打是這場歷史之戰的最重要一擊。金鶯終結者布瑞騰說到這一轟剛擊出那一刻，全隊代替球迷們呼喊：「我們就大呼小叫，那感覺其實也很詭異。」

席曼奈茲投7局只被敲3安打、失2分，取得本季第2勝，他有感而發：「我們都知道這個城市所經歷的一切，那是你會放在心裡的事，而你必須做的就是走上球場，為球迷們做一些對的事。」

比賽進行的同時，球場附近的街頭一片狼藉，暴動留下的瓦礫、碎片仍隨處可見，街道猶存緊張氣氛。惟仍有一些穿著橘色球衣的金鶯迷相挺，在可瞧見場內的左外野欄杆、右外野全壘打牆外百年建築B&O倉庫，見證這場大聯盟史上第一場關門比賽。
